With ‘All Eyez’ on Francis, he ended the fight spectacularly by TKO after only 44 seconds of the first round.

The opening round was a battle of breathtaking intensity, as both fighters hit one another hard enough to give the other pause. But Miocic’s game plan soon became clear. Whenever Ngannou landed a punch, Miocic would go for a takedown. And while he wasn’t successful with all his shots, he did land one by the middle of the round. Miocic worked from side control and briefly attempted an armbar, then later went for a choke. Unfortunately, Stipe got the decision win, but the Predator will be back. Stronger than ever!

A few days ago, he stood in a faceoff with Overeem, and whispered to him, “You go to sleep Saturday night.” The hint of a smile broke through Overeem’s stare, and Ngannou doubled down, saying, “You will sleep.” ‘Reem did. Ngannou correctly called his shot, a sixth straight stoppage to start his UFC career, joining Ronda Rousey, Anderson Silva, and Rich Franklin as the only fighters to do that in the modern UFC era. You may notice that all of those fighters went on to capture UFC championships. Ngannou’s turn is coming now, that was confirmed by UFC president Dana White following the event.

ARLOVSKI VS NGANNOU

Francis Ngannou passed his first test against a marquee name, knocking out Andrei Arlovski to pick up his fifth straight win and advance in the heavyweight division. Ngannou caught Arlovski leaning in with an overhand right, returning fire with a two-punch combo that sent the ex-champ to the mat before the referee intervened at the 1:32 mark of the very first round. The heavyweight bout was part of the main card of today’s UFC on FOX 23 event at Pepsi Center in Denver.

They engaged at archery range for the first minute. Ngannou finally threw a leg kick, but Hamilton caught it and took him down. Ngannou used his momentum to throw Hamilon off. Ngannou grabbed an arm against the cage and looked for a kimura. He reefed on the arm so hard that Hamilton was forced to the ground. He reefed some more there and Hamilton tapped! That’s some ridiculous strength! Sick!

Newcomer Mihajlovic from Serbia against Ngannou. Could be quick. Referee for this one is Herb Dean. They stroll out and touch gloves. Very casual. Mihajlovic with a leg kick, and now he back-pedals out. Mihajlovic very cautious, and lots of movement. But Ngannou patient here, just stalking. Right-hand lands, and another, from Ngannou, and now he pounced with hammer fists, one, two, three, big shots, left hand…and it’s over! Ngannou just took out Mihajlovic quick. Damn. Mihajlovic didn’t like the stoppage, but he was turtling up. Three wins in a row for Ngannou.

Ngannou’s striking damaged Blaydes’ right eye to the point it was completely closed in the second round, and though the UFC newcomer survived the frame, the cage side doctor wouldn’t let him go to the third. The result was a TKO stoppage win for Ngannou, and the first loss in Blaydes’  career. “I’m very happy with the victory and I proved today that I’m not just a striker or a boxer like people think, ”Ngannou said. “I showed people today what I can do and proved that I’m an MMA fighter.”

Ngannou opened with a few crushing leg kicks, but Henrique was able to catch one and trip the action to the floor. Once back on the feet, the two spent time battling in the clinch in a relative stalemate before exchanging a few strikes to close the frame. Ngannou looked to tee off on the feet in the second, but Henrique wisely closed the distance. However, he couldn’t take advantage of the position, and Ngannou capitalized. A few combinations started to land from range before a left uppercut landed flush and sent Henrique crashing to the floor. Ngannou followed with a smashing hammer fist on the canvas, but Henrique was already out from the devastating blow on the feet.
